Owl's Nest Scholarship (SA)

Owl’s Nest Program at Texas Woman’s University is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic undergraduate students to serve as mentors for incoming first-year students. Owl’s Nest Mentors play a crucial role in supporting new students as they transition to college life by fostering a welcoming and engaging community. Additionally, Owl’s Nest Mentors gain leadership skills that will benefit them for years to come while also building up their resume for future career opportunities.

Responsibilities:
Social & Community Building: Actively participate in all out-of-class Owl’s Nest events (approximately 2-5 per semester) to enhance student engagement.
Mentoring & Study Support: Offer regular opportunities to meet with first-year students for mentoring, academic guidance, and study group facilitation outside of class; meet with each student at least once over the course of the semester.
Faculty Collaboration: Maintain regular communication with faculty facilitators to ensure alignment with Owl’s Nest goals and student needs.
Student Support & Encouragement: Serve as a positive role model and resource for first-year students by sharing personal experiences, guidance, and encouragement.
In- and Out-of-Classroom Engagement: Attend and participate in select Owl’s Nest class sessions to support first-year students and collaborate with faculty facilitators.

Qualifications:
Must be a second-, third-, or fourth-year undergraduate student at TWU.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to lead and foster a sense of community among first-year students.
Willingness to collaborate with faculty and participate in scheduled Owl’s Nest activities.
Commitment to supporting first-year student success through mentoring and academic engagement.
Availability for 2-4 hours of mentoring service each week.

Compensation:
Selected Owl’s Nest Mentors will receive a scholarship in recognition of their service and dedication to first-year student success.
