Kathryn Millet Owens '63 Nursing Endowed Scholarship
The Kathryn Millet Owens ’63 Nursing Scholarship Endowment, established by Kathryn Owens and Thomas Owens to honor the life and legacy of Kathryn (Kay) Millet Owens, a dedicated nursing alumna of Texas Woman’s University.
Kay began her nursing education at Texas Woman’s University in 1959, completing her studies at the Parkland Hospital campus in Dallas before graduating in 1963. She then served as a surgical nurse at Parkland Hospital for a year, demonstrating her commitment to the profession. After marrying Tom Owens, she and her family settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they lived for over 60 years. Kathryn was the proud mother of three sons and grandmother to three granddaughters.
The Kathryn Millet Owens ’63 Nursing Scholarship Endowment will support future nursing students, helping to carry forward Kathryn’s legacy of service, compassion, and excellence in healthcare. This endowment reflects her lifelong dedication to nursing and her belief in the transformative power of education.
