ACCESS Scholarship
Project ACCESS is a Department of Education Title V Promoting Post-Baccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA) funded program. The main goal of Project ACCESS (Accelerating Completion and Career Education in the School of Sciences) is to enable Hispanics and low-income students with academic ability to successfully complete postsecondary degrees in biotechnology, biology, chemistry, mathematics and information data science, and to pursue careers in STEM fields.
Award amounts vary; selected students may be awarded up to $5,000 per semester.
The ACCESS Scholarship application opens on April 19, 2024 and has a December 15, 2024 priority deadline and January 1, 2025 final deadline for Spring 2025
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Must be a graduate student in the School of the Sciences (in Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Math, or Informatics).
• Must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credit hours, or equivalent, in each semester receiving funds.
• Must have a cumulative 3.2 GPA in each semester receiving funds.
• Students must demonstrate financial need as defined by eligibility for Federal need-based financial aid.
o Students are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year, and eligibility may change year to year according to the results of the FAFSA.
• Project ACCESS 2023-2024 scholarship winners may submit a 2024-2025 application; however, priority will be given to students that are first time applicants.

2. Please upload a personal statement (2 pages max, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, in 12-pt font. Tell us about yourself and your degree and career objectives. Your personal statement should include your interest in STEM fields and future plans after graduation.
3. References – Provide the name and email for two references. Your references should be able to assess your academic potential or professional capacity such as faculty members, academic staff, supervisors, advisors, etc.
