Major General Mary L. Saunders Scholarship

Per the donor’s wishes and intent, the funds’ express purpose is provide a stream of funding to support scholarships for doctoral students in the Department o Sociology at Texas Woman’s University. Preference will be given to returning TWU students. One of the major goals of the Major General Mary L. Saunders Scholarship is for Sociology doctoral students to increase research productivity while working a s a graduate assistant or graduate teaching assistant for the Sociology Department, without compromising progress toward degree completion.

Criteria:
:

• Be in good academic standing at Texas Woman’s University
• Be enrolled in the doctoral program of the Department of Sociology with preference given to returning TWU students
• Complete the required application and provide a two-page maximum essay that will include he applicants plan for substantial progress toward degree completion including research and publication goals.
• Recipients of the scholarship shall provide evidence of documented progress to the department by mid-year and at the conclusion of the academic year. This documentation is to be collected by the department.
