Dr. Rose Nieswiadomy

Dr. Rose Nieswiadomy, or Dr. Rose as she was fondly known as, received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Nursing from TWU and a Ph.D. in Nursing from North Texas State University, today known as the University of North Texas. Dr. Rose dedicated over 30 years of her life to the nursing students at TWU, who hold fond memories of her and the profound impact that she made on their lives. Dr. Rose was a strong advocate for nursing research, believing it to be not only interesting and exciting but also a kay element in the growth of the nursing profession. Her highly regarded textbook Foundations of Nursing Research was recently released in its seventh edition with the help of TWU’s Dr. Catharine Bailey, with the hope that the edition may become a tribute to Dr. Rose’s life’s work that would help to provide understanding and promote research in nursing. Dr. Rose was a “DFW Great 100 Nurse” and a member of the Parkland Alumni Association, the Texas Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau.

In honor of Dr. Rose’s legacy and commitment to the students of the TWU College of Nursing, the Dr. Rose Marie Nieswiadomy Endowment was established. The purpose of the endowment is to provide a stream on income to support a scholarship within the College of Nursing. The scholarship is awarded to graduate students in even numbered years or undergraduate students in odd numbered years.
