Dr. Jessie Bateman-Barns Narsutis
Jessie Bateman-Barns (Narsutis), professor emerita and former Dean of the Texas Woman’s University’s College of Household Arts & Sciences, was active in University and community organizations. She was a member of the TWU President’s Council and
co-chaired, with her husband John, the 1990 TWU Pioneer Club Campaign. Bateman-Barns was a member of the Denton Benefit League and the Denton Chamber of Commerce President’s 100 Club. Bateman-Barns organized the first Texas Headstart supplementary training program and was a delegate to the 13th World Assembly for the Education of Young Children held in Bonn, Germany. A graduate of Texas Tech, Bateman-Barns was named a distinguished alum of Tech in 1989.
