Dr. Freida Carson Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Freida Carson Endowed Scholarship

Texas Woman’s University is proud to announce a generous gift from the estate of Dr. Freida Carson, a distinguished alumna from the Class of 1947 who graduated with a degree in Chemistry. This gift establishes the Dr. Freida Carson Scholarship Quasi-Endowment to support full-time undergraduate students pursuing chemistry degrees.

Dr. Carson’s remarkable career included serving as supervisor and later Director of the Histopathology Laboratory at Baylor Hospital. During her 35-year tenure, she earned her MS and PhD degrees from Baylor University. She also led one of the first nationally accredited Schools of Histologic Technique and dedicated her career to teaching. Dr. Carson authored numerous articles and published “Histotechnology: A Self-Instructional Text” in 1980, a seminal work now in its fifth edition. Recognized as a TWU Distinguished Alumnae in 1980, her contributions to education and science remain profound.
