Dr. Carolyn Colvin Endowed Scholarship

Carolyn was born on August 25, 1930, in Harlingen, Texas. She attended school in Harlingen, Houston, and Stuttgart, Arkansas. She received a B.S. in 1952 and M.A. in 1953 from Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women s University). She then went to Louisiana State University to teach for 8 years. Carolyn went to Macomb, IL in 1963. She then attended Indiana University and received her doctorate in 1970. She taught at the Western Illinois Lab School until 1975, when she was transferred to the Women’s Physical Education Department at WIU. She retired in 1990.
She enjoyed camping and traveling with her best friend Kathleen Pearson. Together, they made it to 49 states and 11 foreign countries. She was a member of RV’ing Women for over 20 years and enjoyed the many friends who also enjoyed camping.

Impact

With her thoughtful estate gift in 2022, TWU established a quasi-endowment to provide scholarships for Kinesiology students. The scholarship is available to both undergraduate and graduate students who are in good standing.
